Wood grain is everywhere right now- palette wood, barn wood, vinyl wood, and yes- even painted wood! And no wonder- it looks FANTASTIC!… I thought I’d share with you some of my recent projects that all incorporate the look of wood!
This first project uses the look of painted wood to create a dockside scene that perfectly compliments the vinyl ‘wood’ floors in this dental practice. Gorgeous!
Here is a before and after to demonstrate how the look of wood can add warmth and texture to the room.
So how do you achieve this look? Much like if I were putting it up myself- one board at a time. This barn wood look is achieved though a process of layering browns and gold to achieve the overall color scheme. But then, once each ‘board’ is outlined, it must be unique from every other board around it. Otherwise, it looks contrived and flat.
I especially like the look of this standard metal door painted with faux wood and ivy to really make it pop.
Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that not every project involving wood has to use shades of brown. In this project, a white-washed shiplap look was the perfect touch to this cottage-style bedroom.
