MY BACKGROUND:
I grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia among farms and apple orchards. My childhood was spent making things- Lego structures, Halloween costumes – and drawing my own comic books. I received my first ‘real’ acrylic paint set for my 14th birthday and loved going to summer art camps. Later, in high school, I began learning about oils and watercolors.
When I’m painting just for me, my favorite subjects have always evolved around nature- I’m constantly amazed by its beauty and detail. And I’d count Henri Matisse and Antoni Gaudi as two of my favorite artists because of their colorful, imaginative works.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA and received departmental honors for excellence in painting. But my greatest artistic growth began when I started working for other people- being constantly pushed and challenged to see and create their visions.
My business began in 1999 when I painted my first nursery mural for a co-worker. Since then, I’ve built my business one project at a time through word-of-mouth referrals. Today, countless works adorn homes and businesses throughout the greater Washington DC area, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. On average, over 30 new projects are added to my growing portfolio every year. One notable mural was painted for a home listed on the National Historic Registry and built in the mid 1700’s- what a privilege!
In order to better serve my customers, I offer a full line of custom painting services including murals, faux finishing, textures, decorative painting, patterns, stripes, stencils, hand-painted lettering, and custom canvas artwork. I also offer hard-to-find areas of specialty such as professional mural restoration, expert color matching and gold leaf application.
Featured in Washingtonian Magazine, the Washington Times, and Self-Employed America, I’ve developed a reputation of creating custom-tailored artwork that will delight and amaze. However, I value the client experience above all.
